Just took a power nap between assignment work. Had a dream I was on the road and some black teenager fell off of his old school bicycle. Also had a dream I was in a fancy room where a magician was pulling all kinds of crazy stuff out of a glass of water. Then I realized I was dreaming so I ended it. I want to try this lucid stuff. How often do you normally have dreams? From what I know, I'll sleep and not even have a dream or is it possible that I absolutely don't recall having one when I wake up? Occasionally though, I do have those dreams which feel pretty real and memorable, but I can't control my actions in them. Ah, I just read that interrupted dreams are often the ones that are easily recalled when you awake. Interruptions can be anything like being woken up from an alarm or person in the real world or an unbearable threat in your dream. Edited by Skyson, Apr 11 2012, 05:19 PM.

Everybody dreams, however, they don't usually recall the dreams when they've woken up. Skyson, I've only started remembering my dreams after I started logging them. The first dream that gave me the original post was just kind of luck I guess. I got lucky in remembering that, recorded it, then for almost all of the nights after I have remembered the dreams. Maybe before you go to sleep at night you should try to dream. Not really sure how you do that but I'm sure you know what I mean. Or maybe you could tell yourself that you're going to dream that night, maybe that will somehow work. Sounds silly but dat brain is a mind of its own. I ended the dream though because I was getting a really weird sensation. I felt like my eyes were open and it was real stuff, but then I realized there was no way I was really seeing that stuff so that is when I woke up. Just realized that water has been in a lot of these dreams. The bubbles, the bottle of water, and the glass of water. Wonder what that means. Edited by Opeth, Apr 11 2012, 05:40 PM.

I'm going to start keeping logs in my phone's notepad. I remember a dream I had Monday night about this girl I like and logged that one a few minutes ago. I don't recall any dreams from last night. Hopefully something happens tonight. |

i rarely remember dreams also but last week i had two ones weird enough to remember :) this was in the same night/morning my good buddy's older bro was eating peanut butter out of a jar with his hands and he was explaining to me the details of eating the peanut butter... and i was listening intently.... i was eager to learn how he did it. now i know the specifics to eating peanut butter with 2 fingers ^_^ 2nd one was fuckin awesome, it was like duskish... time of night when bats start coming out and shit. i was sitting in the opening of my garage and there were a shitload of flying squirrels in the trees above me (i live in a forest) and i was amazed cause i've seen a few flying squirrels around my house but never 30+ at one time. anyhow, this one like flew down right at me and i quick jumped out of the way as it landed next to me. then i look at it and its a white cat with long ears and flying squirrel like wing things fucking coolest lookin animal ever i wish that shit was real i stopped smoking weed and i still get cool dreams like this, frig ya :D |

when im sleeping i wake up at least 10 times in the middle of my dreams, open my eyes fully, feel that im completely awake, flip positions, and then go back to sleep almost instantly and begin dreaming again very soon after. ive noticed that dreams are more realistic and controllable when youre in and out of consciousness. theyre more memorable and its easier to tell when youre dreaming. i guess you just get practiced from all the waking up, falling asleep, waking up, falling asleep. take if from someone whos literally been asleep longer than hes been awake (or damn near close to 50/50) for a pretty long time now. D: super bum. you dont want to become someone who remembers their dreams all the time or try to become one or attempt to base a lot of your actual perceptions off of your dreams. its pointless and unhealthy. yes dreams are related to your thoughts you had while conscious... but studying your dreams is more than likely not going to solve any of your personal struggles or anything like that. i recently had a dream about this big fish tank i somehow got and put in my yard that had a baby shark and a few fish in it. i remember in the dream thinking the placement is very weird of this tank. being outside and nearly hanging off of my picnic table. and i had a relentless urge to figure out what to feed the shark. it didnt take long to realize that this dream was kind of a result of guilt i felt for being pretty neglectful of my hamster (that i actually have). because when i cleaned my room i just moved the hamster out of there and left the cage on the floor in my basement and kept putting off cleaning the cage and feeding her (bad i know. but the deeds been done) actually my goofy sister was mentioning how she didnt like where i put the hamster like 10 mins after i woke up so it helped the connection a lot. one time i had a dream i was trying to clean a fish tank.. (that i actually had at the time.) and i was trying to store my fish in the sink.. but i dropped the fish in the sink without realizing there was soapy water in it. and i couldnt get the fish out of the sink and in my dream i was getting all adrenaline filled cuz i was like o shit i gots to save this fish so i woke up before i could save the fish. then like an hour later i walked passed the fish tank to find that BOTH of my fish were dead. that was the only time remembering my dream was significant and strange. ive seen people become confused, falsely spiritual loons from looking too deeply into their dreams its almost like trying to base your emotions and outlook on life on music. posting from experience and through observation. |

Holy shit, I just woke up crying and sweating from the most realistic dream I've ever had. I was hanging out with this girl and some big fat guy was over too (he was babysitting us, NO CLUE WHY), and for some reason he ended up sitting on the girl and strangling her and she couldn't breathe, and I was freaking out trying to get him off her and I warned a couple times "GET OFF HER NOW OR I'M GOING TO STAB YOU", and he didn't listen so I got a knife and started stabbing him in the neck over and over. It was extremely realistic and graphic and there was blood pouring out everywhere. Then the dream keeps going. I call 911 and explain what happened while crying my eyes out and the cops and paramedics come and all this crazy shit is going on, and the whole time I'm bawling my eyes out about what just happened knowing that I just killed somebody and that I'm going to go to prison and on trial and all this shit. Then there are all these people giving me hugs and pats on the back and stuff telling me that I did the right thing and that I just saved the girl's life. |

one tip, you forget up to 90% of your dream after being awake for 10 minutes, once you wake up write down every detail you can think of |

That sounds pretty intense. Who do you know in your life that's fat? If not actually fat, then 'metaphorically' fat? Also, what was the girl like (someone you liked)? I would interpret a babysitter generally as a metaphor for something like an 'authority figure', and so your dream is telling you that authority figures aren't trustworthy and may sometimes harm innocent people. And the second part of your dream would be saying that you might need to retaliate, and that it would be hard, but people would thank you for it at the end of the day. IMO one function of dreams is to have your brain draw stronger emotional connections between abstract concepts. For example, the concept of an 'authority figure' is abstract and not inherently meaningful in day-to-day life. But a dream might take the concept of 'authority figure' (demonstrated via a metaphor) and have that metaphorical figure do something that elicits a real emotional reaction. Then, when you wake up, that emotional connection persists because the brain just operates in that way where 'what fires together wires together'. |
